Dr. TilakSiyambalapitiya obtained his first-class honours in Electrical Engineering from university of Moratuwa and PhD in Electric Power Engineering from University of Cambridge, UK. He worked nearly for five years in Ceylon Electricity Board as the Chief Engineer, Generation Planning. He also worked in Saudi Consolidated Electric Company for four years. He has experience in conducting tariff studies for embedded generation in Sri Lanka and Tanzania and continues to be engaged in studies on issues related to pricing,grid interconnection and regulation of small to medium scale grid connected power plants. He is also a visiting lecturer at University of Moratuwa in both Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Architecture.

He also obtained a Diploma in Electrical Power Systems from University of Trondheim, Norway. His PhD is in power electronics and awarded for the best Thesis of the year in Herriot Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. He is a member of Institute of Electrical Engineers UK and the Charted Engineer status. Dr. Narendra De Silva started his career at Lanka Transformers(Pvt)Ltd as an Electrical Engineer and currently he is the head of Engineering at Lanka Electricity Company Private Limited. He is also a visiting lecturer in BSc under graduate programs as well as Master of Science Program in the department of Electrical Engineering at university of Moratuwa.

Dr.H.M. Wijekoon received his BSc (Eng) degree from University of Peradeniya in 1993 with a first class honors, M.Eng degree in 1998 from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and PhD in in2005 from Nayang Technological University, Singapore. He has been serving as a visiting lecturer in University of Peradeniya, University of Moratuwa. Not only that,he has been a visiting academic consultant in University of Ruhuna. He is a Charted Electrical Engineer, Member of IET and Engineering council,UK. His research interests are power quality, power electronic devices for mitigating power quality, grid connection of distributed generation and distribution load flows with an industrial experience in locally and internationally.
Professor of Electrical Power Engineering - University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia
John Fletcher is a Professor of Electrical Power Engineering at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He studied Electrical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland graduating in 1991 with the Watt Club Medal. He completed his PhD, also at Heriot-Watt University, in 1995. He lectured at Heriot-Watt University until 2007, then the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, and then onto UNSW in 2010, becoming full professor in 2014. John is the Energy Systems Research Group Head with responsibility for 12 academics, post-doctoral researchers and 70+ PhD students. His current research includes microgrids, inverter control, fault-tolerant multi-phase machines and a range of multi-disciplinary projects that rely on power electronics. His team has six postdoc researchers and 21 PhD students.

Mr. Harsha Wickramasinghe, Chartered Mechanical Engineer by profession, graduated from University of Moratuwa with the specialization of Mechanical Engineering in 1992. Serving in plantation and industrial sectors, he gained exposure to many indus¬tries and processes with special focus on operational efficiency. He has also associat¬ed with renewable energy development, fuel substitution and rehabilitation of hydropower projects.
Having obtained an MBA from the University of Colombo, he ventured into consulting in Enterprise Resource Planning and promoted the concept of ‘value perspective’ in enhancing productivity of industrial systems.
He was instrumental in developing several renewable energy technologies and projects for rural energy applications and contributed to reduce project costs to bare minimum levels, opening up the off-grid services to large number of villages. He contributed towards developing the first ever comprehensive energy policy of Sri Lanka as the convener of the National Energy Policy Committee. He was among the key contributors to the design of cost-based technology specific tariff regime and the in¬troduction of net-metering concept to Sri Lanka. He was the convener of the committee appointed to design a scheme to procure energy from micro power producers, identified as the Net + Plus scheme. He was one of the architects of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority, which paves the way for energy efficiency improvement and renewable energy development in Sri Lanka.
Secretary, Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy
Dr. B M S Batagoda, a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from University of East Anglia, UK is currently the Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy. He is a Fulbright scholar as well as a Commonwealth scholar. He holds a MSc degree in Natural Resources Management from Michigan State University, USA. He is also an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
Dr. Batagoda has held many senior managerial positions including the post of Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Planning, the Director General of the Department of Public Enterprises, the Director General of the Department of National Planning and several senior positions in the Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Plantation Industries, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Director-Climate Change and Global Affairs) He has also served as an Assistant Secretary to his Excellency the President of Sri Lanka. Further, he has served as a Board member of many public enterprises and as a member of Fulbright Commission. During his career Dr. Batagoda pioneered with other stakeholders in initiating and creating many innovative institutions and programmes such as Carbon Trading in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Climate Fund Ltd., Climate Change Secretariat, Air Resource Management Centre, Vehicle Emission Testing Programme, Environmental Economics and Global Affairs Division, Project Management Bureau. A team lead by him has been able to influence the government to remove Lead in Petrol and improve quality of Diesel to improve air quality management. He has been awarded the Kong Ha International Award for Excellence in Air Quality Management in Asia in 2014 for his contribution towards the improvement of air quality.
Dr. Batagoda has authored and coauthored several books including State of the Environment in Sri Lanka, Urban Air Quality Management in Sri Lanka, Theoretical Manual for Environmental Valuation in Sri Lanka and Fiscal Policies on Fuels and Vehicles in Sri Lanka, Environmental Economics; A Guide to Training of Policy Makers, Institutional Design of the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol etc.
